The beasts of Daniel 7 aren't just ancient mythology—they're exact prophecies of empires that rose and fell precisely as written. In this entry of The Biblical Bestiary, I sketch and illustrate the bear of Medo-Persia and the four-headed, winged leopard of Greece as I unpack the fulfilled prophecy and the theological weight behind each symbol.
From the bear raised on one side with three ribs in its jaws, to the lightning-fast leopard with four heads and four wings—these creature designs are portraits of history written before it happened. Together, they raise a difficult question: How do we reconcile a good God who uses violent nations to accomplish His will?
The answer changed how I understand sovereignty.
